On the Jaunary 5, the traditional "Three Kings Conference 2023" took place in Košice, Slovakia. Two of our students, Monika Robotková and Michal Svoboda, gave talks called "Jets in hot dense matter" and "Production of heavy quarks at the STAR experiment". The conference aims to connect Czech and Slovak scientists who get to know each other about their scientific research in the field of physics. This year there were lectures on the topics of particle physics, solid state physics or physics applications in medicine. After the lectures, the participants also had the opportunity to take part in a panel discussion on the topic "Does a physicist still have any advantage on the labor market?", where physics graduates who are currently working in the private sector discussed whether it makes sense to study physics and what the subsequent application might be.

Scientists working in the large infrastructure BNL-CZ, in co-operation with other Czech institutions co-organized the largest conference in particle physics ICHEP2020 taking place from July 28 to August 6, 2020 in online mode due to the covid-19 pandemic. The conference was launched with a parallel program in 17 specialized sections. A total of 3,000 scientists from all over the world took part in it, making it the largest in the history of particle physics. Particle physics is one of the most important research topics at CTU where our involvement in research at the Brookhaven National Laboratory is crucial. Many of our colleagues are involved in the organization of the conference itself, e.g. Jana Bielčíková co-coordinated the program committee of the conference, Jaroslav Bielčík co-coordinated the preparation of the program for the public, Barbara Trzeciak co-heads the Heavy Ion Physics section, Miroslav Myška co-heads the Education and Popularization section. In addition, many of our students participate in the technical implementation of the conference. A number of colleagues from BNL-CZ from the STAR experiment presented directly at the conference with expert talks:

• Leszek Kosarzewski about Upsilon meson production at the STAR experiment
• Lukáš Kramárik about production of charmed quarks at the STAR experiment
• Jakub Česka about Monte Carlo simulations of Upsilon meson production
• Tomáš Truhlář abpout production of pion-pion, kaon-kaon a proton-antiproton pairs
• Jan Vaněk about D+- meson production at the STAR experiment
• Jakub Cimerman abourt correlation femtoscopy in heavy-ion collisions

At the beginning of December 2019, beam started to circulate in the RHIC and first collisions were recorded at the STAR detector. Our PhD students Jan Vanek and Lukas Kramarik, who work as expert on the ZDC subdetector, where at place to ensure its functionality during the long 6 month of data-taking. The anniversary 20th physics run will focus on low-energy collisions, that could help to find the critical point of the QCD phase diagram. Our colleagues helped to organize the 11th International Workshop on Multiple Partonic Interaction at the LHC which was hosted by the Department of Physics, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, FNSPE CTU in Prague, Czech Republic, on 18-22.11.2019. This workshop brings together the world's leading experts from theory and LHC experiments to discuss the latest progress on the physics relevant to the Multiple Partonic Interactions. Dr. Jana Bielčíkova had her presentation titled Overview of hard and soft probe measurements with STAR at RHIC and Dr Leszek Kosarzewski had a presentation on the Charged particle multiplicity dependence of quarkonium production measured by the STAR experiment.
